The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), working together with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Internal Security Organization (ISO), has apprehended three individuals suspected of attempting to defraud a prominent religious leader.
Addressing a press conference at the Unit’s offices, the Deputy Head of SH-ACU revealed that the suspects identified as Kintu Aggrey, Isiko Moses, and Nuwagira Herman, allegedly impersonated investigators from the Anti-Corruption Unit in a calculated scheme targeting the pastor.
The trio reportedly falsely accused Pastor Isanga of involvement in dealing in counterfeit US dollars and demanded a payment of Shs20 million in exchange for dropping the purported investigation. The fraudulent scheme is said to have unfolded between September and October 2025, during which the suspects persistently summoned the pastor.
Initially, the pastor delegated a church elder, Dr. Micheal Kyakula, along with his lawyer, Isabirye Derrick, to meet the alleged “investigators.” The meeting took place at Nommo Gallery in Nakasero, where the suspects reiterated their demands.
On October 7th, 2025, the suspects escalated their scheme by sending a forged summons requiring the pastor to appear at the Anti-Corruption Unit offices at Kingdom Kampala Building. The document falsely accused him of involvement in a “Black Dollar scam” and other fraudulent dealings.
However, the scheme was thwarted after ISO tipped off SH-ACU about the suspected fraud. Acting on this intelligence, the pastor was advised to comply with the fake summons. When he met the suspects at Kingdom Kampala Building, they were caught in the act as they repeated their demands and were immediately arrested. A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of the forged summons.
Authorities have since confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with plans to charge the suspects with forgery, uttering false documents, and impersonation of public officials.
SH-ACU officials commended Pastor Isanga and his team for their vigilance, which prevented the loss of a significant amount of money. According to his lawyer, the suspects were attempting to defraud the pastor of approximately Shs130 million.
The Unit has urged members of the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious individuals or activities. Citizens are encouraged to contact SH-ACU through its toll-free line, 0800202500, in case of suspected fraud.
