In FY 2018/19 during a routine district roads committee meeting, officials of the municipality in accounting for money from Uganda Road Fund (URF) claimed that they had undertaken road maintenance projects and bought fuel to run the road equipment. The officials further claimed that they had worked on certain roads but this was not the case. The Town Clerk and municipal engineer had irregularly authorized UGX120m for fuel, vehicle maintenance and spare parts. The officers were consequently arraigned in court in January 2019.
