May 9, 2024. The State House Anti-Coruption Unit working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions arraigned two Obongi District Local Government officials before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of Abuse of Office and Emblezzlement. The officials; Rasul Burhan Gobe-Senior Human Resource Officer- and Adaku Alfred-the then Ag. Chief Finance Officer.
The two, together with the Chief Administrative Officer, who is still at large, in abuse of their authority emblezzeled over 100M by irregularly making over payments to pensioners and existing salary earners in the district, after which they would demand for a refund of the over paid amount. After commencement of the investigations, all the money was recovered and paid to the recovery account of government.
