March 19, 2024. Wamana Paul, a former Theatre Assistant at Arua Regional Referral Hospital has been charged with Corruption before the Anti-Corruption Court.
The accused was arrested by State House Anti-Corruption Unit working with police following allegations that on May 29, 2022, while being employed as a theatre assistant at Arua Regional Referral Hospital, Wamana solicited and received a bribe from the parents of an infact in exchange for performing a surgical operation on the child.
He was first given UGX210,000 with promise of more but on the day of the operation, He failed to attend to the patient which caused delays and unfortunately the child passed on. He was been remanded till 26th March 2023.
