The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the police, detained Okello Francis, the Acting Secretary of the Lira Land Board, for allegedly concealing various original land files, including the Mayor’s Garden, which the Board illegally gave away with the help of several City Officials. After other city officials raised an alarm, the suspect was detained after he was seen transporting thousands of Land documents in his own car on the night of February 4, 2022, presumably to cover up some illicit land transactions.
The KCCA Magistrates Court has heard Francis’ case. He was charged with conspiring to obstruct the administration of justice in violation of section 103(c) of the criminal code Act Cap 120.
