The Unit received a whistleblower complaint that UGX700m sent to Lira District Local Government in FY2017/2018, purportedly in error, was spent in breach of finance and accounting regulations. Investigations revealed that UGX307m was allegedly spent on activities that did not take place. The CAO, CFO and an accounts assistant were charged with abuse of office, causing financial loss and conspiracy to defraud.
