The Unit received complaints from residents of Ssisa in Wakiso District that over 10,000 of them risked losing land for which they held title and lived for long. Some people calling themselves ‘balangira’ (descended from 17th Century Kabaka Kagulu Tebucweke), had hired machete wielding gangs to harass residents and bar them from developing their land. The Unit acted in liaison with the Police and removed the gangs. The gang leaders were arrested and charged in court with criminal trespass.
